Supporting research to find a cure!

Thank you to all you have donated to Team Gutsy for the "Take Steps" Walk to help find a cure for Crohn's and Colitis. Our team - Gutsy - has raised $990.00!!! Yowza! I can't wait to walk at the end of May for this cause - with my battle scar and all!

But I have a special challenge for those who may have been thinking of donating, or haven't gotten around to it. I am joining forces with The Bright Side of Crohn's (a fellow friendly Crohn's blogger) who issued her very own tempting challenge on her blog: for the first 10 donations received to the CCFA (through my walk page or on your own) she will donate $10 of her own!! Thank you, Bright Side!

So, here's the deal:

1) Consider donating to the CCFA through Team Gutsy. Once you click on this LINK, you can donate to any of the team's walkers (my sister-in-law Priscilla, my sister Kristen, her cute boyfriend, Chris)...you get the idea!

2) Then mosey on over to Bright Side's charitable site, BrightSky.Org, to simply record the donation you already made (you can mention your name or be anonymous). Bright Side will then add $10 of her own to your donation, up to the first 10 donations. (So, you'll be getting the most "bang for your buck" with your one donation!)

Again, if you already donated, thank you so incredibly much. And if you've been toying with the idea, I hope Bright Side's very generous matching donation will be just the incentive you need!

And just to get things rolling, I just donated $10 to get us to the $1000 mark!

As always, thank you for reading. Your comments and support mean the world to me.

  1. Thanks for mentioning my little fundraiser page! And thanks for reporting your donation Kathryn!

Just to be clear- people do not have to donate AGAIN through BrightSky.org. They are merely letting me know about the donation they did to your walk-a-thon page.

  2. Psst- you might also want to follow Crohn's blogger Scott. He has a more 'info and research' slant to his blog. Like his latest post about Crohn's and pregnancy:

  3. I just noticed that you're 5'10". Yay for tall girls! I'm 5'9". Do you have as much trouble as I do finding pants that are long enough? I take a 36" inseam and 29" waist. So hard to find... *sigh* hahaha

  4. Hi Bright Side,

Okay, I reworked the wording - let me know if you think it's clear enough! ;-)

And yes, I actually just read that article on pregnancy on Scott's page - I'm not a regular follower but saw the link through your site...it made me happy - still no adverse findings with those biologics, yay!! And he has quite the followers!

I don't have trouble finding pants, only because I am overweight (and I think they assume all tall girls are bigger?...which works for me and my big belly!). I had a friend who was my height and very slender and she had a terrible time, but I didn't give her any mind because she had a thin, model-esque body, like you! Ha! (You could always wear more skirts to show off your long legs, and that would solve the pant dilemma as well!!!)

  5. Actually...thinking about it...I have the opposite problem - waists are too small! My on-going joke is that I'm the only person in the world who has NOT lost weight (but gained) with Crohn's. I find this a mystery being that at times, I've ran to the bathroom upwards of 5x a day! I think it's one of the great wonders of the world.
