I have no interest in the Super Bowel (that was a typo, but in light of this blog's subject matter, it's staying!), but Matt bet fifteen bucks on the Saints - and I'm cheap - so I'm glued to the t.v.

Did anyone else just see this Google ad? I'm still tearing up. They have a ton of these Search Story ads. I'm very behind the times, here. I feel woefully old. But they're fabulous...why didn't anyone think of this ad campaign sooner? They have a fantastic narrative...okay, I have to cool it...I'm feeling very Don Draper-esque, at the moment.

(On a semi-related note, is the Super Bowl theme this year that Arcade Fire song? Has football gone... cool?)

I've never understood Jay Leno's appeal. He's banal, his humor isn't funny, and he makes quite a number of jokes at the expense of the gay community (and I thought "gay" jokes stopped being funny after 5th grade). I remember always watching Letterman and then Conan. Recently, we've been watching a lot of Craig Ferguson, who I really think is the unsung hero of late night. I'm hoping Conan moves to FOX, so he can bring his old, slightly edgier and more intelligent schtick back and no longer has to cater to middle America.

With that said, I'M WITH COCO.

16 and Pregnant

I watch a lot of trash on t.v., which is something of a feat in and of itself considering we don't have cable. I just had to share my most recent addiction, 16 and Pregnant on MTV. Kudos if you guessed the premise.

This particular episode's couple, however, was startlingly mature. The couple, Catelynn and Tyler (or is it Taylor? I can never get that name right), give their daughter up for adoption, knowing they cannot provide a good life for her. I was mesmerized by how self-possessed both of them were, given their unfortunate family situations (Tyler's father was just released from jail, and Catelynn's mom calls her a bitch, and both parents don't agree with their decision to put their child up for adoption - it's dysfunction at its worst).

I thought I'd share because 1) these kids are remarkable given their situation and 2) a few posts back I was discussing things that make you cry. Grab a tissue.

Just dance!

I am quite possibly in love with Ellen DeGeneres - my love particularly bloomed during these last few weeks while at home. I'd bypass Martha at 2 pm, savor Ellen at 3 pm, and only grudgingly watch Oprah at 4 pm.

Here is Ellen at Tulane's commencement ceremonies. I didn't go to my college graduation (it started with me not ordering my cap and gown in time and then me stubbornly refusing to pay the late surcharge...I also thought graduations where so self-celebratory and, moreover, boring). However, if Ellen was at my graduation I would of certainly shelled out the extra $25 for that gown.
